Invaluable Exercise: Living a more authentic life. I am a big believer in the power of now. Right in this very moment is where our minds should stay focused.
In the beginning, this was a difficult concept to master. That doesn’t mean that every now and then, I forget and I have to remind myself to stay in the moment. Take deep breaths throughout your day and consciously say to yourself, I’m going to slow down. Shift your focus of the mind to the present. This concept is essential to our well being.
It takes willful practice to live in the power of now. As you repeat this exercise, you get better and better at practicing it. If you take 5 -10 minutes out of your day to practice this. You will soon start to see the difference in your life and your focus.
The focus and goal is to eliminate chaos in your life by breathing and being still for 5 – 10 minutes. It’s yoga for the mind. If you can walk to a quiet place to take 5 minutes for yourself. If you’re sitting down take notice of your environment, your surroundings. You can see all sorts of tangible objects wherever you are currently at and just look at them without labeling or naming the objects. Just observe those things in your immediate presence.
This is a very important exercise to practice. It is a new way of thinking, refocusing, shifting your energy to be more centered. This helped me tremendously when I was the most challenged and in the darkest place in my life.
I like to say, “Doubt yourself less and love yourself incredibly more.” We are innately spiritually driven as human beings. This is one of my favorite exercises that I made up during my hypnosis meditation sessions.
When you are overwhelmed and overloaded with responsibilities, there is a way to calm yourself. Start to breath and refocus in the moment. If you can stop whatever you are doing for 5 -10 minutes to yourself.
I realize if you are working in an office setting this time aside may be difficult, but not impossible. If you allow yourself just 5 minutes to yourself it can definitely help.
If you can go outside and sit in a quiet space. Or better if you’re at home, you may have a favorite chair, sofa, or chaise to sit or lay on. Preferably be alone just for a few minutes. Lying down is preferable to relax your entire body starting from the top of your head down through your feet.
First start to breathe. Now starting from your face, relax the muscles on your forehead, eyelids, down the bridge of your nose, down you lips to your jaw. Release any tension in your jaw.
Let this moment of total relaxation travel down your shoulders, releasing tension as if your floating in mid air. From your shoulders down your arms through your hands let go, release the tension.
In the next part, if you are not feeling well, this is where you have the ability to call on and sense a higher power, a very strong healing white light that will travel through your entire core and help you and your medical doctors with the medical treatment help heal a certain part of your body.
Starting from the top of your head through your scalp and skull into your brain. Where your brains neurons are functioning as electrical activity and your neurotransmitters like your serotonin, dopamine, and norepinephrine help your mental state and mood stay balanced. At the base of your skull is your spine made up of discs and vertebrae, There are three parts to your spine: cervical, thoracic, and lumbar. Moving down your throat going down your esophagus into your stomach, imagine and feel the strongest white healing light. From there let it travel to your lungs, your heart, heart valves and tissue, to your liver, portal vein, bile duct down to you sphincter of oddi, which is a small muscle circling you bile and pancreas ducts. From there let the healing light travel to your pancreas, your spleen, your aorta, bladder, your kidneys, to your small intestine through your long intestine to your appendix and to your colon. Your entire core is made up of these major organs
Go completely limp in all your extremities. Imagine all your organs relaxing and perfectly functioning. Now relax your back, your legs, your torso, down your legs to your feet. This is the important part. Imagine yourself going outside of your body. Your mind and focus looking at yourself sitting or laying down. Take a good look at yourself. What you are wearing, your hair, eyes, cheeks, nose, chin, neck, shoulders and the rest of your body to your feet. Your only thought should be observing yourself. You are now out of your mind (with no pun intended) and your thoughts should decrease to zero. It is also important to think of the number Zero (0). Look at it’s round shape. Breathe deep, inhale and exhale. When you feel completely calm and refocused then proceed with the rest of your day.
The more you practice this exercise, the more you start to live in the power of now and refocusing (shifting) your mind to be still. You could practice this a number of times a day. I’ve practiced it while running. Where I concentrate on being completely relaxed in my mind. Separating my mind from my body. I feel my body moving forward and observing my legs running forward, but my mind is separate from the rest of my body. This also helps me to run a longer distance. I tire less, have more stamina and feel perfectly focused.
I hope this exercise can help you and the more you practice it throughout your day, the better you will feel.
