For Beauty and Longevity: Mice getting younger!
Like making an appointment with a hair salon to cut your hair, women are flocking to doctors who can inject Botox into their faces and give them a more youthful appearance of not aging; attributing their youthful appearances to good genes or a special cream they’re using which can cost you $500.00 for a 2 oz bottle.
I recently saw an ad on social media about Dr. Phil and his beautiful wife launching her own cosmetic care cream line and Robin looked absolutely fantastic. Did I believe that the youthful cream made her appear as if she was maybe 30 years old? I didn’t. I’m not saying that her beauty regimen cannot show dramatic results in erasing those fine lines. But almost all pictures are retouched. Face lifts and/or what they now term lifestyle lifts can take 10 to 20 years off your age. A perfect example of that is Joan Rivers and she admittedly didn’t deny her plastic surgery.
I lived in Century City, CA next to Beverly Hills. I started taking a Pilates class and I found Pilates to be extremely effective to tighten my core. The muscles in the tummy and your legs and arms. I was also running. I found out that my Pilates trainer had gone through several surgeries; lipo suction (which she was adamant was the only way to get rid of the love handles through lipo suction). Today the tummy tuck, abdominoplasty, is a very popular and invasive surgery that women are having performed by the best reputable doctors in Beverly Hills and throughout the United States. Women who have finished with their child bearing years or women who have gained weight and then lost it hiding the body issues under their clothes. My Pilates instructor said just about everyone here in LA has had one thing or another done to their face and/or body to appear prettier, younger, fuller and happier.
During my career as an Oracle Database computer consultant, I worked for various multiple venture capitalist companies and dot coms. I also came to find out that many of my female co-workers had had a nose job, a face lift, a tummy tuck, botox, lipo suction and they felt happier with their appearance. At the time, I was very happy and secure in my body and my face. I also exercised regularly and running does wonders for the skin along with drinking a lot of water through out your day.
I just read an article in the Science News titled ‘Anti-aging Treatments Show Promise“. I have said that humans longevity is ephemeral and of course mortal. The enviable feelings based on society’s standards to be a perfect woman has exceeded the normal acceptance of who we are. Our infatuation to be youthful and beautiful negating the emphasis to achieve academically and not accepting the inevitable. Models, celebrities, professional women, very young girls at the age of 15-18 are all having something done to feel better about themselves and we are losing the emphasis on education. We are bringing up our daughters and granddaughters to think that PRETTY is more important than education and KNOWLEDGE. We only see beautiful woman like Charlize Theron, Demi Moore, Meg Ryan, Brittany Spears, Nicole Kidman, etc…who are the representation of only beauty.
I haven’t yet had anything done; not one thing. To tell you the truth, I’m scared of what I might regret and maybe I’m just happy and satisfied with my appearance. Joan Rivers talked openly about her plastic surgery and never denied it; that was refreshing and honest that none of us are born more perfect. We look at Donald Trump’s beautiful wife Melania and marvel at her beauty. There are articles that point out her plastic surgery to include filler injections, nose job and breast implants. Melania is adamant that she has had nothing done. Breast implants are probably the most popular body enhancement women are likely to have done.
I worked with a woman who openly discussed her plastic surgery with me. She said, “I had a Boob job because I was tired of looking at myself in the mirror and my breasts looked like long worn out socks with big marbles protruding out.” I had to imagine that in my mind! Yes I imagine you’re doing the same thing!
Now on the other side of this coin is the damage of what any kind of plastic surgery has done to our psyche and society as a whole. Woman who perform in nude night clubs have usually had more than one thing done. Woman who appear online in pornographic sites have also had quite a bit done to their bodies to appear more sexual and desirable to the men who use these sites. Most of these women are using social media to grab the attention of their followers.
I have to say that a woman’s body is a beautiful form of our human existence. We are certainly interested in the rounder fuller appearance of breasts and butts. The problem is that those women who have had surgery are probably making it that more difficult for the women who chooses not to have surgery and all this salacious advertising is giving our young women of today that having fuller breasts is more important then doing your homework and getting your education.
It does appear that we are more addicted to the more beautiful form of a younger more youthful woman. Many men can’t deny this. It’s only being human. We are sexual beings and that is a very important part of our lives. But it has taken advantage of a new and abnormal concept of what the beautiful form of a woman’s body should look like. Hollywood and movie studios are notorious for hiring a young or youthful woman then a more normal woman.
Science News Magazine Article Anti-aging Treatment shows progress by Tina Hesman Saey: A new study suggests that Killing worn out cells helps middle-aged mice live longer, healthier lives.
Removing these worn out or senescent (growing old) cells increased the median life span of mice 24 to 27 percent over that of mice in which senescent cells build up normally with age. The Mayo clinic researchers reported in the February 11th Nature, Clearing senescent cells also improved heart and kidney function. Now that’s even a double plus. Our functioning organs functioning better and lasting longer.
If the results hold up in people, they could lead to an entirely new approach to treating aging, says gerontology and cancer researcher Norman Sharpless of the University of North Carolina Schooll of Medicine in Chapel Hill. The most prospective anti-againg treatments would require people to take a drug for decades. Periodically destroying senescent cells might temporarily TURNING BACK THE CLOCK! What!!! Improve health for peoplle who are already aging, he says. “If this paper is right, Mr. Sharpless believes it will be one of the most important aging papers ever…
