Billie Holiday: “Ms. Jenkins, I just need this job so badly. I went out of my way to quit my last job and I walked out, made the sign of the cross and said alleluia, I ain’t looking back. I knew it was time to come up to you and show you how hard I can work.”
Ms. Jenkins, “What’s your name pretty girl?”
Billie Holiday: “Billie Holiday.”
Ms. Jenkins: “Well that’s a fine name for a pretty girl like you Ms. Holiday, looking like the sunshine as you walked into my store.”
Billie Holiday: “Well, I put on my best dress for this informal interview.”
Ms. Jenkins: “You’re hired Sunshine and I have a small room in the back with a bathroom. You can pay me $5.00 dollars a month rent. Till you get situated and all.”
Billie Holiday gave Ms. Jenkins a big hug and kissed Ms. Jenkins on her cheek.
Young and fine and too smart for Big Ben from the big city!
Love this Natalie….
Thank you. I loved watching the small scene and taking it from there…Lol Dialogue always fascinates me. Never at a loss for words!
