Florida Nightclub Massacre
Early this morning on Sunday June 12th at around 2:00 am eastern time, a gunman now identified as a terrorist, entered the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Florida and started shooting with an automatic gun and killed 50 people, critically wounding 53 others. A trauma surgery physician at the Orlando Regional Medical Center indicated there are numerous people who are going through surgery in order to save their lives. Officials also indicated that a hostage situation had developed after the gunman started shooting, identified now as Omar Mateen.
Just before the shooting there was apparently an altercation between the shooter and the night club security guard. At that point the shooter ran inside the nightclub and started shooting.
The terrorist Omar Mateen was on the FBI radar indicating he had leanings towards radical Islamic terrorism. The U.S. officials had continued for a period of time to watch him, but was never the target of an official investigation.
This is now the second worst terrorist attack since 9/11. It was noted that the terrorist had anti-gay feelings toward the gay community.
President Obama specifically addressed his condolences to the gay community and the victims families for such a horrific terrorist attack. The most deadly shooting in American history. He asked for our prayers for all the families who were affected by such a heinous attack.
Since President Obama has taken office this is the 15th time he has had to address the American people regarding soft target shootings and killings that have taken place in the seven and half years he has been in office. Truly a staggering indication of how these types of shootings occur randomly due to the ability to have access to these kinds of weapons that can shoot and kill numerous people in a public location, in schools and colleges.
The terrorist was killed during the time the police officials stormed in to save as many lives as they possibly could. An armored vehicle was used to break in through the door and room where people were still in harms way.
Prior to the shootings Omar Mateen had called into 911 indicating his allegiance to ISIS.
Omar Mateen worked for a G4S Secure Solutions Company since 2007. He was born in New York in 1986, a United States Citizen and his family was from Afghanistan.
The authorities in Los Angeles have also apprehended another individual who may have been associated with this terrorist attack in Florida. This individual indicated he was there to attend the Gay Pride Festival occurring this weekend in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. He was apprehended with an assault rifle, explosive powder, and camouflage in his vehicle last night.
There are other events related to the gay community as in San Francisco where I’m sure authorities are keeping a close watch. People should be on alert for any suspicious activity.
Now under further investigation Omar Mateen’s father was indicated to support and have ties to the Taliban. Omar Mateen was married in 2007 for a short while, his ex-wife indicated that he very violent and abusive to her.
