After the attempted Coup, Turkish President Erdogan landed at Istanbul’s Ataturk airport Saturday morning and declared the attempted coup against his government to be a failure, but also a “gift from God.” He vows retribution
Turkish crowds surrounded military forces in Istanbul’s Taksim square on Saturday morning.
Erdogan called the uprising “an act of treason” carried out by a minority within the military. He vowed to “clean up” the armed forces and “eradicate” those who had operated aerial forces for the uprising.
This certainly was a close call for the President Erdogan of Turkey. It was clear that his return to his country was imminent in order to maintain his power of authority as President. Prior to the coup attempt the Turkish President had been vacationing in the town Marmaris, Turkey.
