Is Russia Ready To Join US, Japan, South Korea Regarding North Korea’s Nuclear Threat?
Consistently, for over a year and a half North Korea’s saber rattling by testing and launching missiles into the sea is now coming close enough to Russia’s shores, which caused Russia to reconsider their role in the North Korean threat of a nuclear attack.
This time President Vladimir Putin took it more seriously. Considering that Kim Jong-Un is testing to eventually send multiple missiles in multiple directions. Russia has to take note of this because it is a bordering country near Poset and a North Korean enemy. President Putin was careful not to take sides. He called the missile launch “damaging” and “dangerous,” but then said “intimidating (North Korea) is unacceptable.”
President Putin also told the newly elected South Korean President Moon Jae-in in a phone conversation on Friday May 19, 2017 that he is ready to play a “constructive role” in resolving North Korea’s nuclear threat.” said the South Korean Presidential office.
Certainly, good news for the United States and an opportunity to join alliances with Russia to take part in this ever growing huge effort and real danger to the United States, South Korea, Japan and Russia to start aligning themselves to address this problem proactively. Who have no choice and are considering this serious threat now a major issue and priority to say the least.
Admiral Harry Harris, Commander of the US Pacific Command said, “The Terminal High-Altitude Area Defense System would be “operational in the coming days to be able to better defend South Korea against the growing North Korea threat.”
As reported on FOX News the U.S. Commander Admiral Harry Harris in the Pacific also said on Wednesday, “He believes Hawaii needs more missile interceptors in response to the growing threat on North Korea and Pyongyang’s capability to launch a rocket.”
On a Reutures World News Report almost a year ago May 17, 2016 Admiral Harry Harris Head of U.S. Pacific Command told a South Korea support group in Washington that no threat in the region was “more dangerous than North Korea” and its leader Kim Jong-Un.
“He recently threatened pre-emptive nuclear strikes against the United States and other countries in the region,” Harris said. “Folks, make no mistake about it. North Korea is on a quest for nuclear weapons, the means to miniaturize them and the ways to deliver them intercontinentally.””
Harris said the threat from Pyongyang was one reason he has been working to boost trilateral cooperation among South Korea, Japan and the United States. Military cooperation among the three “is good, and I’d like to get it better,” he said.
Brietbart’s News by Kristina Wong reported on Senators reactions: White House briefing on North Korea ‘Sobering,’ ‘Important’.
“After the meeting, Tillerson, Mattis, and Coats released a statement, calling North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons an “urgent national security threat and top foreign policy priority”:
“Today, along with Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Gen. Joe Dunford, we briefed members of Congress on the review. The president’s approach aims to pressure North Korea into dismantling its nuclear, ballistic missile, and proliferation programs by tightening economic sanctions and pursuing diplomatic measures with our allies and regional partners.”
“The statement said the administration is “engaging responsible members of the international community” – a veiled reference to China – to increase pressure on North Korea to de-escalate and return to the “path of dialogue.” “
“The statement also emphasized that the U.S. favors diplomacy over military action, but added that it remained “prepared to defend” itself and allies.”
“The United States seeks stability and the peaceful denuclearization of the Korean peninsula. We remain open to negotiations towards that goal. However, we remain prepared to defend ourselves and our allies.”
North Korea: Russia reportedly ready to play ‘constructive role’ in addressing Pyongyang threat.
“WASHINGTON – The United States asked Russia to be a part of an international effort to address North Korea’s nuclear threat, according to a State Department official. Now, reports from South Korea claim Russian President Vladimir Putin told recently inaugurated South Korean President Moon Jae-in that he is ready to play a “constructive role” in addressing the North Korean threat.”
It is unclear what Putin considers constructive and whether that involves coordinating with the United States.
“There are a lot of very significant security problems set across the world, all of them would get easier, right, if Russia were to come to the conclusion that it would best advance its interests through cooperating with the United States and others to resolve those conflicts rather than perpetuate them,” said H.R. McMaster, the White House national security adviser.”
NORTH KOREA THREAT: US ‘MONITORING’ CLAIM MISSILE COULD CARRY NUCLEAR WARHEAD
Rhetoric between the U.S. and Russia has recently calmed. One month ago, Secretary of State Rex Tillerson met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin.
“Many of you heard from my trip to Moscow, characterized to President Putin that the relationship between our two nations was the lowest it’s been since the Cold War,” Tillerson said during a May 3 address to State Department employees. “He did not disagree. He shrugged his shoulders and nodded in agreement.”
State Department officials said Tillerson and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov now speak about every other week. Last week, Lavrov met President Trump in the Oval office. Presidents Trump and Putin are scheduled to meet this summer at the G-20 Summit in Germany.
Regardless of the more frequent conversations, the U.S. and Russia remain sharply divided on major issues.
State Department Rex Tillerson did say there was almost no trust that exists between the US and Russia.
It was a surprise for Russia and the White House when the missile landed so close to Russia. A statement from Press Secretary Sean Spicer said President Trump “cannot imagine that Russia is pleased.” Well, who would be? ~ Natalie
- “Putin made the comment after Moon said the foremost task to boost cooperation between the two countries was to strengthen strategic bilateral communication to find a solution to curb North Korea’s nuclear threat, the Blue House said in a statement.”
- “We hope for Russia to play a constructive role in order for North Korea to stop with its nuclear provocations and go the way of denuclearization,” Moon had discussed with Putin in the 20-minute conversation.
- “I, too, aim to find a way to begin talks quickly between North and South Korea as well as the six-party talks,” Moon said, referring to talks aimed at denuclearizing North Korea involving the United States, China, Japan, Russia and the two Koreas.
- Tension has been high for months on the Korean peninsula over North Korea’s nuclear and missile development and fears it will conduct a sixth nuclear test or test another ballistic missile in defiance of U.N. Security Council resolutions.
