About Natalie Keshing
There was emotional angst and reactive fallout from this election’s outcome. Many Bernie Sanders supporters were millennials that were feeling a real sense of loss and hope for their future. These intense feelings of loss came as a direct result of feeling they were not being heard or represented by this country. Bernie Sanders supporters were left alone; dangling with no real anchor or representation. This loss happened not only once but twice to Bernie Sanders supporters.
The first time occurred when Bernie Sanders eventually succumbed and surrendered his campaign due to the persistent and intense pressure Hillary Clinton and her mammoth campaign staff and constituents were placing on him. President Obama invited Bernie Sanders to the White House and it was obvious that the President and Hillary were asking him to unite the Democratic party. The second time occurred when Republican nominee Donald Trump won for President of the United States.
There were some Democrat Congressmen and Senators who did not endorse or fully support Hillary Clinton in public. Some in Congress and the Senate didn’t feel comfortable endorsing Hillary Clinton because of her email scandal and the knowledge that her ‘pay for play’ schemes from foreign adversary donors contributed millions and millions of dollars to the Clinton Foundation/Slush fund masking as a charity.
The one great virtue President Trump and Senator Bernie Sanders shared was that they were able to tap into and inspire their supporters and voters at an emotional level. Finally, Americans felt that someone in the political arena had come to support them and their dreams.
Some of Sanders supporters were able to transfer their support and his real vision to Hillary Clinton. Other millennials and grass root supporters could not, based on Hillary Clinton’s dubious reputation and her pattern of behavior in her “pay for play” schemes and her inability to reassure Americans she could not be trusted once again with our national security.
You heard and listened to the Black American people and families expressing their feelings of a real sense of loss and no representation for their lives, their dreams, their futures. They expressed their fears based on recorded videos that captured the violence, shooting and killing of Black American men. Shot and killed by law enforcement officers. It is evident that in some of the video footage recorded, many of these valuable lives could have been saved.
On CNN, Van Jones, a black professional political commentator was very disappointed with the outcome of this election. From the NY Times, Charles Blow a black professional man and a successful writer also expressed his feelings of shock and dismay like others in this country protesting and exercising their first amendment rights. Justifiably these two professional successful men talked about their personal experiences, their history and how this election turnout had hit upon a very sensitive nerve based on this nation’s history and how it has treated Black American people as slaves.
Widespread prejudice eventually has a way of continuing to control those with less opportunities like the Mexican and Hispanic populations in this country working in agricultural fields, as maids, nannies, bus boy’s, janitors, parking lot attendants, lawn caretakers, all the people that work very hard for their hard earned money and don’t complain as much out of their gratitude and graciousness. I could never assume, nor can anyone else know what it is like to be a Black American man or person in this country. I am a educated Hispanic woman and I can only relate to my own experiences.
Mainstream media news networks, NY Times, Wall Street Journal, Republicans and Democrats, List of Corruption, Department of Justice, the FBI Director and rich Hollywood celebrities fought tooth and nail against President Trump and that has not changed but has become hurtful and violent in protests throughout the country. It was exposed through Wikileaks that Hillary Clinton and her campaign chairman hired and paid people to incite violence at President Trump’s campaign rallies across this nation. The violent protests continue to this day. An organized domestic terrorist group called Antifa has become extremely violent and widespread throughout America.
At the annual televised Al Smith charity event, the very rich Manhattan elites all had their eyes on Mr. Trump and it was evident that he was an outsider in this crowd. They extended their pretense and tolerated his presence at this dinner event because he was the Republican nominee running for President. Most at that event were huge supporters of Hillary Clinton. So Mr. Trump like the millennials, like the poor White, Black, Brown, Asian American people of this country understood what it was like to be and feel all alone; except for the fact that he was wealthy. But being wealthy can’t hide nor cure your feelings of being an outsider. After the election, the mainstream media admitted and said that Mr. Trump ran his Presidential campaign race almost all alone with his conviction, persistence and belief in himself. He funded most of his campaign. Hillary Clinton who is also very rich raised an estimated $1.3 Billion to support and run her Presidential campaign.
Democracy in this country is not only a representation of our freedom and lasting hope but equality has to be the main ingredient to sustain a great nation. In this country we are a divided nation among the very rich .01, one tenth of one percent and those still struggling in poverty, the 99% of Americans now all a part of a socio-economic unbalanced society. Many people are suffering. Our veterans, people in crime infested communities like in Chicago and Detroit, people that are held back because of a lack of opportunities, jobs and college, lack of support and love in their families, fear of widespread crime and violence, drugs smuggled into this country and destroying more people’s lives. All this also affects people’s ambition.
The most important factor in this election was that Americans were deliberately mislead by inaccurate media election polls. Because of this no one thought, except for President elect Trump’s supporters, surrogates and voters, that he stood a chance to win this election. It came as a complete shock to voters who were opposed to his strong rhetoric. The mainstream media worked very hard to vilify him including rich elites from Manhattan to Washington, DC, Wall Street, CNN, MSNBC, NBC, CBS and all those who fully supported and voted for Hillary Clinton regardless of her insurmountable criminal corruption exposed daily through Wikileaks and Judicial Watch. Let’s not forget that 66% to 80% of Americans did not trust Hillary Clinton. That translated into voters who could not and would not vote for her and voted for President elect Trump.
Hillary Clinton was the first Presidential nominee who was a woman and many believed she would win based on her gender, public service and her experience. Americans were ready to see their first woman President at any cost. Many supporters of Hillary including rich Hollywood celebrities believed she was the sure candidate that would undoubtedly win by a fair margin.
Hillary Clinton methodically and strategically campaigned and preached to the American people that she wanted to be the leader of the free world. Ideally, we would all like to think that we as a nation of freedom could extend an olive branch to all illegal immigrants and Syrian refugees fleeing ISIS and dictators who are abusing, hurting and killing innocent people’s valuable lives. People who only want and deserve to live in peace who can prosper and realize their dreams. But realistically, we live in a very different and dangerous world today. Terrorism is a constant threat on a much grander and wide spread scale; globally. Terrorist groups like ISIS have repeatedly killed and destroyed many thousands and thousands of lives across this world. The worst terrorism attack in world history was on American soil on 9/11. It was a conspired and strategically well planned terrorist attack that completely came out of nowhere. A simultaneous colossal attack on more than 3,000 innocent American lives in New York, Washington, and Shanksville, Pennsylvania. People getting to work and starting their day on September 11, 2001.
This past election was very hard and stressful for all Americans. Most wanted a change. A representation for the 99% of American people. To remind Congress that they are elected on behalf of the American people. It will soon be a new President’s administration after January 20, 2017. With that comes the new hope for a greater better America. Perhaps, all of us will pay closer attention to Congressional decision making and we will watch a new President implement his vision for the American people.
