Natalieâs Commentary: Mysterious circumstances turn into a deadly triangle when a woman in the prime of her life was eventually found dead.
Neighbors were surprised to find out Orsolya Gaal was missing and even more surprised to find out one person in the marriage wasnât as happy as the couple appeared to be to the whole neighborhood.
These kinds of unusual circumstances are usually a surprise to family and friends of the couple and worse ended in murder. A terrible tragedy for Orsolya Gaal and her immediate family left behind alone without her presence; her husband and a 17-year-old boy and a 13-year-old boy. Do we really know a couple and what transpires behind closed doors? We do not.
Especially in this difficult and challenging time, when the pandemic has affected everyoneâs minds, relationships and marriages.
The crime was so brutal, it indicated this affair was extremely personal for the murderer, possibly being jilted by his lover on that very same day. He might have become enraged with Orsolya Gaal who was trying to break it off with him. If the murderer was single, he might have thought the relationship was much more serious to him than it appeared to her or it could have been Orsolya Gaal, who was making the demands that her lover leave a relationship or she would inform his girlfriend or wife. This is merely speculation and only the murderer can tell you exactly what happened based on his events and feelings. Iâm sure Orsolya Gaal will be missed tremendously by her family and friends. ~ Natalie
Cops want to question a former handyman lover of slain Queens mom Orsolya Gaal who had intimate knowledge of her home â including where the family kept a spare key, The Post has learned.
The man, who has not yet been formally identified as a person of interest or suspect in the gruesome slaying, is believed to have had a romantic relationship with the 51-year-old married mother of two before the affair went south, law-enforcement sources said.
Itâs unclear when the relationship began and ended, but according to sources familiar with the case, the man knew where the family kept a spare key at their well-kept Forest Hills Tudor and would have been able to access the home without breaking in.
Gaal was stabbed nearly 60 times sometime in the wee hours Saturday inside the front of the home, with her corpse then taken to the basement, sources and authorities have said. She was stashed in a black Bauer hockey bag similar to one belonging to her kids, and the pouch containing her body was then dragged outside and dumped about a half-mile away, leaving behind a trail of blood, cops said.
Police believe the killer knew Gaal because there were no signs of a break-in, and considering the violent nature of the crime, they suspect the attack was personal and fueled by anger specifically toward her, sources said.
But the grisly slay did not appear to be pre-meditated, sources said.
â[Detectives] donât think it was a planned murder,â a law-enforcement source said.
âHe left a blood trail for five blocks from the house,â the source said.
âIt was like a trail of bread crumbs.
If you want to kill somebody, you try to make it a little cleaner, be a little more prepared. He didnât go with something to move her body. He took something from the house,â the source said.
âIâm sure with that kind of blood, thereâs lots of DNA there,â the source added. âThe killerâs DNA has gotta be in that blood. Itâs not a clean scene.â
Cops are also looking to speak with several men Gaal had been texting with before her death, sources said, as detectives plastered posters around the neighborhood offering a $3,500 reward in exchange for tips.
âUP TO $3,500 REWARD FOR INFORMATION REGARDING A HOMICIDE,â the poster states in bold red letters beside a photo of Gaalâs home and the number for Crime Stoppers.
âOn Saturday, April 16th, 2022, at approximately 12:40am⌠An unknown perpetrator stabbed a 51-year-old Orsolya Gaal multiple times causing her death. The victim was found inside a duffel bag along Metropolitan Avenue in Queens,â the poster reads.
NYPD sources told The Post on Tuesday that detectives had asked the Queens District Attorneyâs Office for a search warrant shortly after tracing the blood back to Gaalâs house Saturday morning.
But investigators werenât given the warrant till early evening, costing them valuable time in gathering evidence, sources said.
The DAâs office did not immediately respond to a Post request for comment.
On Tuesday afternoon, the familyâs electrician, Arrjuna Jack, stopped by Gaalâs home, which is still wrapped in crime-scene tape, after he heard that sheâd been killed on the news.
âIâm very startled,â said Jack, 30, adding that he was frequently at the familyâs home to do electrical work, as well as some power-washing and painting.
âI know her very well. Her husbandâs very nice. Her two sons⌠are very nice as well. ⌠Itâs very sad.â
Jack called Gaal âvery beautifulâ and said that as far as he could tell, the family didnât have any issues.
âSheâs a very happy, jolly person all the time. ⌠I see her all the time jogging,â Jack said.
âTheyâre a very beautiful, quiet family. Very happy all the time.â.
On Friday evening, Gaal headed out with friends to see a show at Lincoln Center before returning to Queens around midnight and hitting a bar in her neighborhood, where she hung out for about 40 minutes alone, apparently waiting for someone, police sources said.
Samson Cornejo, whose father owns 5 Burro Cafe on Austin Street, said Gaal was a regular at the watering hole but added heâs not sure if she was there late Friday.
âHer house is a 10-minute walk. ⌠She comes here, yâknow, sheâs been here before. She used to come with some Russian ladies,â Cornejo told The Post on Tuesday.
âI saw the bag, where they found it, after I left that night. I drove by it after leaving here. I couldnât believe when I heard. It smacked me when I saw her picture!â
Gaalâs 13-year-old son was home when cops went to the house Saturday morning after his motherâs body was discovered. The boy was upstairs at the time, and there is no indication he left the house at all overnight, sources said.
Gaalâs husband and 17-year-old son were out of state on a college tour at the time.
In May 2020, Gaal was briefly reported missing to police after her husband called 911 and said sheâd gone for a walk around midnight and wasnât home by the time he woke up the next morning.
About two months later, she posted an ominous message to a community Facebook page asking for information on how to buy pepper spray.
âGiven the recent attack on a woman in Forest Park and the general uptick of crime and seedy characters in the neighborhood, I sought info here to get mace / pepper spray for my runs in the park,â the post states.
âBe safe out there!â she wrote.
The suspect in the slaying of Queens mom Orsolya Gaal sent a chilling message to her husband, warning that âYour whole family is next,â according to a new report.
The body of Orsolya Gaal, 51, was found inside the luggage just after 8 a.m. Saturday â and cops discovered a trail of blood leading back to the victimâs stately Tudor-style home on Juno Street in Forest Hills, police said.
Her husband, Howard Klein, who was reportedly in Portland with the coupleâs 17-year-old son on a college hunt, received an ominous text message from the killer, threatening, âYour whole family is next,â according to WPIX.
Gaal apparently told her youngest son, 13, she was heading out to watch a show Friday night, but instead met up with another man, the station reported.
Gaal spent some of her final hours puttering around her yard and enjoying a night out â before video caught a mysterious figure lugging her makeshift casket down the street.
Reached by phone Saturday, Gaalâs husband, Howard Klein told The Post he was at an airport preparing to fly back to New York and was âin the middle of a terrible experience.â
â[My son] Leo is safe. Thank God [my son] is safe,â he said Saturday of his younger child, before adding that his familyâs âlives are at stakeâ
âThere are concerns about our safety,â the man claimed. âOur lives are at risk.â
Neighbors said Gaalâs 13-year-old son was seen being taken away in handcuffs shortly after the body was found.
Police sources said the teenager was questioned at the local precinct in connection with the case.
The boy was released Saturday evening, said cops, who did not reveal what adult took custody of the child.
