Donald Trump in Albuquerque, New Mexico
Yesterday, on May 24th Mr. Trump arrived in Albuquerque, New Mexico with big aspirations that New Mexico would welcome him with open arms. Our news channels here in New Mexico televised the protesters that were barging into the barricades and some windows did get smashed. Donald Trump told them, “Go home to your mommies.” Another time some of the protesters had to be escorted out and the Donald said, “He can’t get a date so he’s doing this instead. Come on.”
New Mexico’s State Governor Susana Martinez was inconspicuously unavailable to attend Mr. Trump’s campaign rally in Albuquerque. At which point Donald Trump noted her absence and then added the following:
“Since 2000, the number of people on food stamps in New Mexico has tripled,” Trump Said, “We have to get your governor to get going. She’s got to do a better job. Okay? Your governor has to do a better job. She’s not doing the job.”
It’s been no secret that Donald Trump has not been one of Governor Susana Martinez’s favorite people. He had already added to the fire of criticism with his disparaging remarks stating “Mexican immigrants are rapists and murderers”. Governor Susana Martinez added “He is completely and unequivocally wrong.”
Most of the New Mexicans that were born and raised here in New Mexico are law abiding citizens, many of us are educated working for State Government, Los Alamos National Laboratory, Sandia National Laboratory, or small private businesses in Tourism. I think it’s time we clear the air and the conception in Mr. Trump’s mind that we are far from lazy people.
Some of us grew up in a ranch, worked in a crop growing industry, famous for our green and red chile. Many of us can ride a horse (I can, and pretty well). There is the exquisite art galleries from contemporary to abstract art located on Canyon Road in Santa Fe, Taos, and Albuquerque, New Mexico.
We celebrate and burn old man gloom burnzozobra.com once a year. Perhaps Mr. Trump might want to come back and participate in this tradition. The Red spirit that dances below Zozobra could try and rid Mr. Trump’s of his highly critical denouncing spirit. Our red spirit could certainly try. Can you imagine that Mr. Trump completely and utterly changed to inspire, compliment, admire ~ all equally to those who come before his path. Or is it that, this whole campaign election process has turned him into a cantankerous insulting presumptive Republican Nominee. Now the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton is in hotter water for that secret email server in her office. Just today it was announced that Hillary Clinton didn’t comply with federal rules.
Bernie Sanders came to Santa Fe and he was very well received and he was in his usual perfect form, to raise our spirits as voters and believe in the American dream once again. Once we institute some governing laws, rules, and practices that will raise the minimum wage to 15.00 an hour (I’m all for that), and offer either free health insurance or very affordable, stop Wall Street, big banks, and large companies from committing more unlawful acts and penalize those companies who continue to build headquarter offices and provide manufacturing jobs in other countries…
Well here’s my commentary on Mr. Donald Trump visiting New Mexico and we are part of the United States.
