A very important meeting took place yesterday (12/07/16) at the Trump tower between President-elect Trump, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Chief Strategist Steve Bannon and Chief of Staff Reince Priebus.
After the meeting, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel talked about a very personal crux in his life. He shared with the public that his family came to America 100 years ago. America was there for his grandfather and father; with that came all the possibilities for himself and his family to prosper. It’s hard not to feel the empathy for others with the gratitude he maintains for America.
Mayor Emanuel was there to talk about the young immigrants who are in school and college and how that would be terrible to stop them from achieving their dreams. There has to be some solutions to help those who are working towards their education.
I’m sure the meeting also addressed the issue of illegal criminal immigrants in the United States. The goal, is to identify illegal criminal immigrants following with enforcing the United States immigration laws.
The United States for the last eight years and longer has been very lax with immigration laws; not enforcing immigration rules, laws and regulations. As a result sanctuary cities have opened their welcoming arms to help and take care of these valuable people lives. But not enforcing the immigration laws has affected and resulted in a false sense of security for illegal immigrants.
There couldn’t be a more appropriate time to engage in an open dialogue discussing these important issues to become proactive instead of reactive in the present. The world is much more complicated and identifying people with mean and egregious wills to destroy another human being’s life is quite the challenge today with the ISIS ideology and cult influencing young men and women to commit these atrocious acts.
The divisive rhetoric between Democrats and Republicans isn’t really helping Americans as a whole. Leaving our pride at the door and letting down our guard is really the first step to making and implementing real change for all Americans to prosper. This shouldn’t have to be a game between the Democrats versus the Republicans; it sounds childish, doesn’t it? We already witnessed for the last 8 years the friction and incapability of Republicans and Democrats not getting along and not supporting each other for the good of all mankind. Why are we making this much more complicated and ridiculously narrow minded because it just doesn’t have to be this way.
“After the meeting Emanuel emerged to tell the media throng assembled in the Trump Tower lobby that the meeting was “very good” before placing a round of calls to reporters back in Chicago to lay out the topics he discussed with the president-elect.”
“Beyond immigration, Emanuel characterized his meeting with Trump as one focused on infrastructure and education policy. But Trump also has been a frequent critic of Chicago’s rampant crime, advocating for tougher policing strategies, including a return to stop-and-frisk, even though a federal judge ruled the way it was used in New York was unconstitutional.”
“Asked if Trump brought up Chicago’s crime woes, Emanuel responded, “We talked about public safety.”
There is a lot of leverage to engage and address Chicago’s infrastructure, education system and to decrease Chicago’s high crime rate. The truth is that there are criminals from all ethnic backgrounds.
