Update from Nats.news: London police officials are calling this attack on the London Bridge a terrorist attack. The suspect attacked and injured 4-5 people. All casualties were taken to the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel, one of the capital’s four designated major trauma hospitals. There is serious concern about the condition of at least one victim who was stabbed. Since the last update two victims have passed away.

The suspect used a large knife attacking innocent victims who were on his path. Initially of course, the scene sparked panic and people were trying to determine where to run from the danger when the suspect was attacked by heroic innocent people and then during the take down by police officials who finally shot the suspect.

Neil Basu, Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, said, “Our heartfelt sympathies go out to everybody who’s been involved in this and are anxiously waiting for information on their loved ones. As soon as we can get information we will get it to you.”

A witness said, “there were shouts, then I heard get back and then I heard two gun shots in that order. What was going through my mind, was just run and I didn’t know which direction the guns were being fired. I was just trying to flee the scene and get away from there as quickly as possible.”

Mayor of London said, “Anybody who has images on their phone please share that with the police. It’s very important if you do so. Also it’s important to protect the identity of the police officers and please don’t show these to the public to protect their identity. Also what was remarkable was seeing the breathtaking heroism of members of the public who literally ran towards danger. There appeared to be a device on the suspect and the members of the public didn’t know that at the time and it was a hoax device. There really was the best of us in another example of the bravery and heroism running towards danger risking their own personal safety to try to save others and I want to say thank you to them on behalf of all Londoners but also because it shows the best of us.”

On Fox News retired Navy Seal, David Sears said, “One thing it tells me is that it’s actually kind of a good news story in this that these guys if they could get a hold of the bomb making materials, the actual explosives and pieces like that and have the technical knowledge to piece together, there’s no reason they wouldn’t put together an explosive device. So the fact that they resorted to these hoax devices in order to likely commit suicide by police officer is kind of a good news story.”

Independent News Article:

Police have said they are “dealing with an incident” at London Bridge amid reports of shots being fired.

A photograph on Twitter shows a truck parked across the road surrounded by police cars and video showed armed police pointing guns at a person who appeared to be lying on the pavement.

Police evacuated London Bridge station and set up a cordon at Borough Market while nearby shops and businesses were evacuated.

“We are in the early stages of dealing with an incident at London Bridge,” City of London Police said. “If you are near the scene, please follow the directions of any officer on the ground.”

London Ambulance Service said it had crews at the scene and the London Fire Brigade said it was assisting the police.

A witness who works nearby told The Independent they saw a body bag being carried to the scene.

A BBC reporter said he heard shots being fired and saw someone on the ground.

“Just a few minutes ago I was walking across London Bridge on the south bank to the north bank of the bridge,” John McManus told BBC News.

“There appeared to be a fight going on on the other side of the bridge, with several men attacking one man.

“Police then quickly arrived, including armed police, and then a number of shots were fired at this man.

“Police have now cleared the bridge, everybody has been told to move back and now on the northern side of the bridge, but there are more shots going on.

“I can’t see what’s happening now because we’ve been moved out of the way but there are shots going on, and you probably hear the police sounds as well.

“Everybody has cleared the area, the entire bridge has been moved, and right on the northern part of the bridge, right up until quite near the Bank of England, is being cleared.”

But the location will bring back memories for many Londoners of the 2017 London Bridge attack, which started just metres away.

That saw three Isis supporters plough a hired van into pedestrians on London Bridge, before going on a stabbing rampage in nearby Borough Market.

They killed eight victims before being shot dead by armed police.

The attack, which was the third Islamist atrocity to hit the UK in 2017, caused barriers to be put up on London Bridge and other major crossings over the Thames.

A coroner’s report into preventing future deaths warned that others could die unless authorities made changes.
